Feeding two cats on a timer comes down to one choice: share one machine, or give each cat its own. Sharing is cheaper; separate feeders let you give different amounts, and an RFID feeder lets you keep one cat out of the other's bowl. We have not used these feeders; the picks follow a written rule (the cheapest in our check for each setup) and the figures are the brands'.
Three setups, priced
- One feeder, two bowls. Cheapest: Petlibro Granary Smart Feeder Dual Bowl, $99.99, one 5 L hopper split between two stainless bowls.
- One RFID feeder per cat. Petlibro One RFID Smart Feeder, 3 L ("about 13 Cups"), $149.99 each, $299.98 for two [calc]. Desiccant for two feeders: about $113 a year at Petlibro's 2-week pace [calc].
- Two ordinary feeders. Cheapest single-bowl feeder in our check: PETKIT Fresh Element Solo at $52.99, $105.98 for two [calc], with kibble up to 0.47 in (12 mm).

Kibble size: the limit people miss
Dry-food feeders jam on pieces that are too big. Petlibro prints 2 to 15 mm on every Granary and One RFID page, PETKIT 0.47 in (12 mm), Whisker's Feeder-Robot 5/8 in or less (about 15.9 mm). PetSafe's Smart Feed and CATLINK's Fresh 2 pages we read give no kibble range. Measure the widest piece, then run the fit check with that number and your number of cats.
Wet food
For wet food, Petlibro's Polar ($169.99) holds 3 meals of 6.76 oz (200 ml) and cools them; Petlibro reports that "in our lab tests" it cooled food to about 54°F at a room temperature of 77°F. Its page does not say how it serves two cats. What each feeder costs to keep going: 3-year cost.
Frequently asked questions
Can one automatic feeder feed two cats?
Yes, with a dual-bowl model, but the bowls share one hopper and one schedule. Petlibro says of its dual-bowl Granary: "The portion setting is split between both bowls, with the distribution depending on how you adjust the meal splitter." Nothing stops one cat from eating from both bowls.
How do I stop one cat from eating the other's food?
With a feeder that opens only for a tagged cat. Petlibro's One RFID Smart Feeder ($149.99) syncs with one collar tag: "the feeder can only sync with one collar tag", and the reader "only works with the dedicated collar tag, not microchips". Two cats therefore need two feeders, $299.98 [calc].
What is the best automatic cat feeder for 2 cats with a camera?
In our check, the cheapest dual-bowl feeder with a camera is Petlibro's Granary Smart Camera Feeder Dual Bowl at $149.99 on November 7, 2026. Petlibro sells an optional Video Cloud plan for its camera feeders at $47.99 a year (Standard).
Do automatic feeders need refills?
Petlibro and PETKIT ship their dry-food feeders with a desiccant pack and sell replacements: Petlibro says each bag keeps food fresh "for up to 2 weeks" ($25.99 for 12), PETKIT "4 weeks / piece" ($14.99 for 5). That is about $56 or $39 a year per feeder [calc]. Whisker, PetSafe and CATLINK list none on the pages we read.
