3-year cost: the device, the refills and the plan

Pick a category and a device. Every line comes from the brand's store; change the pace if your pets go through refills faster.

The calculator adds what you will pay for one device over one, two or three years: its store price, each refill at the interval its maker publishes, and its plan. Then it ranks every device of the same category on the same terms.

Cheapest first, store price of November 7, 2026.

1 = the brand's interval. 2 = twice as often, for example with two cats if you assume use doubles (our assumption, not the brand's).

Filled with the brand's figure; type your own, or one where the brand gives none.

Leave empty to use the published price.

Furbo Nanny, Petcube Care, Whisker+, Petlibro Video Cloud.

How the total is built

Two totals worked by hand

PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Classic, 3 years, one cat: $99.95 for the box; trays at $73.49 for 3 = $24.497 each; one every 30 days, so 3 x 365 / 30 = 36.5 trays x $24.497 = $894.13; total $994.08 [calc].

Litter-Robot 4, 3 years: $699; liners, 50 for $35 = $0.70 each, one every 7 days: 1,095 / 7 = 156.4 x $0.70 = $109.50; carbon filters, 6 for $30 = $5 each, one a month (30 days): 36.5 x $5 = $182.50; total $991.00 [calc]. With Whisker+ ticked, add $79.90 a year: $1,230.70.

Frequently asked questions

Why do you use the brand's replacement interval?

Because it is the only published figure. Whisker says one liner a week for a single cat, PetSafe one crystal tray a month, Petlibro a fountain filter every 2 weeks. Your pets may need more or less: the "how often" field multiplies every interval (2 means twice as often), and the first refill line can take your own number of days.

Why are some devices not ranked?

When a brand sells a refill but publishes no interval for it (CATLINK's Pro series waste bags, PETKIT's trash bags for the Max Pro 2 and refill rings for the Ultra), or when we did not find the refill's price (PetSafe SmartSpin and OpenSky liners), adding it up would mean inventing a number. Those devices are listed apart, and you can type your own interval for their first refill.

Is the litter included?

Only when the device needs its maker's own litter: PetSafe ScoopFree crystal trays and PETKIT's crystal litter set for the Purobot Crystal Duo. Boxes that take ordinary clumping litter use whatever you buy today, so we leave it out rather than guess your brand and your cat.

How are plans counted?

Required plans always; optional ones only when you tick the box. The first paid year uses the brand's first-year price (Furbo Nanny Standard: $83.92), later years the renewal price ($7.99 a month), and months included with the device are deducted (Litter-Robot 5 Pro: 1 year of Whisker+). Type a monthly price to replace the published one, or to count a plan whose price is not published.
